James Roberts
President
My name is James Roberts and
I am church-based trained. Sounds like a confession doesn’t
it, but that’s my story! From maturing under the ministry
of Grace Community Church in southern California to developing
spiritual disciplines under the ministry of Perimeter Church in
Atlanta to serving in leadership roles through the ministry of
Fellowship Bible Church North in Plano, Texas… my spiritual
growth and leadership development has all taken place within the
context of the local church.
So, it was a natural transition
for me to leave a business I had helped start to join the Center
for Church Based Training in February 1999. Since that time, God
has continued to grow me and use me to encourage church leadership
around the world to become more intentional about the growth and
maturity of the people God is entrusting to their care.
My greatest joy is found in the
relationships God has orchestrated into my life. My wife Anette,
whom I met in 1977 and married in 1979, introduced me to Christ
and we were baptized together. Anette and I have been journeying
together in Christ’s mission ever since. We have three grown
children… Christine, Joshua, and Lauren. My mentors from
days past are still influential in my life and I would rather
spend time with friends than just about anything else. I “de-stress”
at my pool table and one thing still on my “to do”
list is to learn the guitar.
Psalm 37:23, 24 is the passage God used
to ignite my life…
“23If
the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm;
24though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
2 Corinthians
3:18 is my daily motivation…
“18And we, who with unveiled
faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed
into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from
the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
1 Peter
3:15, 16 is my conviction…
“15But in your
hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an
answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope
that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping
a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against
your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.””
2 Timothy
2:2 is my mission…
“2And the things
you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust
to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
